Day 02 Amazing Delhi
Delhi stands as the capital of Modern India.
Here you can see the mingling of the Old and New India, the ancient and the
modern. Delhi is made up of seven ancient cities, spanning the period from
the 11th to 20th centuries. Delhi has seen the rise and fall of many
emperors, which have left behind a plethora of monuments that commemorate
the grandeur and glory of bygone ages. Very few cities in the world can
express such a profusion of architectural styles.
Old Delhi was an ancient walled city. Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan in 1650 switched the
Mughal capital from Agra to Delhi. Shah Jehan possessing an Exquisite
talent, especially in architecture, created the seventh city and in the
Process brought about Delhi's glorious renaissance.
Start the
day with Old Delhi. Here you will view
Red Fort, the most
Opulent Fort and Palace of the Mughal Empire. The fort is Shah Jehan's
symbol of power and elegance, built behind red sandstone walls. Its main
gate (Lahore Gate) faces Chandni Chowk, the perpetually congested
avenue-heading west From the Red Fort, is filled with twisting lanes, small
streets and crowded Bazaars. If you peer through a portico you may see a man
getting shaved, silver being weighed, or any other conceivable form of
intense commerce.
Also visit
Raj Ghat, the memorial site
of the Mahatma Gandhi;
Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India; and
Chandni Chowk, the bustling and colorful market of the old city.
Chandni Chowk was the commercial centre of Delhi in the old time and you
will see it come alive in the morning as the trading day starts.
New
Delhi was designed and built by the British in the 1920's-it's a city of
wide boulevards impressive Government buildings, green parks and gardens. In
1911 King George V announced the transfer of the capital from Calcutta to
Delhi. The King's architects, Lutyens and Baker, set in motion the Design
and construction of Delhi's eight cities - New Delhi. Lutyens designed an "Imperial
City" having Palatial-sized buildings set amid broad tree-lined avenues
punctuated by Mughal style gardens, complete with fountains and shallow
pools. It took 20 years to complete this immense undertaking only to have
the British pack up and Relinquish the subcontinent in 1947. Visit to

Minar. Drive pass through the Raisina Hill, past the imposing

Gate, President House and P
arliament House. Visit to Lotus Temple,
Laxmi Narayan Temple.
Evening return to the Red Fort to watch
the
"Son et Lumire" show which is an Interplay of colorful

Day 03 Delhi - Neemrana (122 kms)
After breakfast drive to Neemrana - Built since 1464 AD, Neemrana
Fort-Palace is among India's oldest heritage resorts. Neemrana became the
third capital of the descendants of Prithviraj Chauhan III, who was killed
in battle by Mohammad Ghori in 1192 AD. This picturesque site was chosen by
Raja Rajdeo and Neemrana derived its name from a brave local chieftain
Nimola Meo, who when defeated by the Chauhans, pleaded that his name be
given to his lost kingdom.
It is Rajasthan's closest palace from
New Delhi, situated at 122 kms. on the Delhi-Jaipur highway - only 100 kms
from Delhi's international airport. Sited on a majestic plateau, concealed
in a horseshoe formation of the billion year old Aravalli ranges. Overnight

Day 04 Neemrana - Samode Village (185 kms)
After breakfast drive to Samode - built in stages starting 400
years ago, the Palace was converted in to a Heritage Hotel by the Samode
Family. The Ornate interiors are a fine example of the Rajput-Mughal Haveli
Architecture. Samode, ancient royal retreat, notable for its Wall Paintings
and Glass work in the Grand Durbar Hall.

Day 05 Samode Village - Dundlod ( 220 kms)
After breakfast drive
to Dundlod - a tiny town against picturesque surroundings offers an
interesting stop over. It has a rugged fort and a palace now run as a
heritage hotel. Havelis of the Goenka family ornate with fine frescoes are a
visual delight.
Kila of Dundlod the 17th century Rajputana Fort
studded with monumental nostalgia of Shekawatis, the warrior Rajputs who
with stood the onslaught of Mughal hordes. Since then the cultural heritage
of splendid Rajasthan is preserved as its ethos are imbibed in architectural
grandeur of the Dundlod Fort. The silent ripples of the golden sand dunes,
which besiege the Kila lures, and enchants tourists and villagers as well.
The
Fort of Dundlod is an embodiment of cultural
amalgamation of Rajputana and Mughal School of Art and Architecture. Its
motif of flowers and foliage, minarets, mythological paintings, archaic
furniture, wall hangings of arrows and shields have remained unchanged since
hoary past. Here commercialism of artificial world could not slip in.
Staying in Dundlod Fort is almost like living through the days of James Tod
who described the splendors of Rajasthan. On every dawn the first ray of the
sun befalls over the fort as an eternal bliss to the land of mystique and
charisma.

Day 06 Dundlod -
Khimsar ( 296 kms)
After breakfast drive to Khimsar - perched on
the edge of the Great Thar Desert in the heart of rural India. It offers a
wide range of experiences. The battle-scarred walls and turrets remind you
of its glorious past as a center of much warfare, as well as commerce and
trade. The initial construction began in 1523, but the family moved in
during the 18th century when a new 'zanana' (ladies wing) was constructed.
Thakur Onkar Singh built a regal wing for himself in the 1940s. Today, the
Khimsar Fort ranks high among the premier classified heritage hotels of

Day 07 Khimsar - Jodhpur
(90 kms)

Morning
drive to Jodhpur. Jodhpur -
the Great Indian Desert, sites on sand
stone hill surrounded by a strong wall, approximately 6 miles long with 7
entry gates. Upon arrival check in hotel. Half day sightseeing of the city
includes visit to
Meherangarh Fort, drive through the old city and
past the Clock Tower near the largest spice bazaar in the sub-continent,
visit the
Jaswant Thada Cenotaph, the royal cremation site and then
proceed to see the most magnificent, modern 20th century Palace, the
Umaid
Bhavan Palace and its museum - a treasure trove.
Village
Safari (By Jeep)- A memorable outing in Jeeps visit various traditional
villages seeing local handicrafts viz. stone makers, pottery, hand weaving
and also men in their traditional attire, women clad with ancestral silver
jewellery, etc.

Day 08
Jodhpur - Sardarsamand (60 kms)
Morning drive to Sardarsamand - a
hunting lodge built by H.H. Maharaja Umaid Singh in 1933, is replete with
impressive art deco architecture.
All the original features have
been retained and expansive grounds and gardens of hotel Sardar Samand
Palace offer delightful walks. Overlooking the large lake teeming with
birdlife, the lake resort affords one of the most breathtakingly beautiful
views of Lake Sardar Samand. An ideal place to unwind.

Day 09
Sardarsamand - Udaipur (215 kms)
After breakfast leave for
Udaipur. Enroute visit to Ranakpur temples of the Jains, built in the 15th
century in the lovely valley of Aravallis. It has grand structure &
beautiful Sculptures. The 1444 pillars in the temple are different from each
other. The magic of light & shade is really awe- inspiring. Later
proceed to Udaipur. Upon arrival checkin Hotel. Afternoon is free to explore
colorful Bazar & Shopping.

Day 10 Udaipur
Today sight seeing of Udaipur includes
The City
Palace, drive around Fateh Sagar lake, Sahelion-ki-Bari (The fountained
and flowered garden of Maidens),
Partap Smarak: A memorial to the
legendary warrior Rana Pratap, Bhartiya
Lok Mandal Museum. Remainder
of the day is at leisure. Evening
Boat Cruise at Lake Pichola.
