Jodhpur can be the base for a number of interesting circuits
offering various options.
OPTION 1
Day 01
Jodhpur - Rohet
Drive from Jodhpur to Rohet, to stay at Rohet Garh,
located next to a lake. An interesting street leads to the fort where you
will stay. A village safari will get into close proximity of the communities
of Bishnois, Rabaris and Rajputs, and to see blackbuck in the wild.
Day 02 Rohet - Bhadrajun
Drive 100 kms to Bhadrajun, to stay at the
fort palace. The waterlogged areas around the fort become green fields when
the water recedes.
Day 03 Bhadrajun - Daspan
Drive to Daspan, visiting Jalore en route with its temples, to stay at
Durjan Niwas Castle. The availability of water allows planned forming here.
The area is famous for its makers of mojris, Bhil bow and arrows, and for
its silversmiths.
Day 04 Daspan - Siyana
Drive to Siyana, to stay in cottages at a farm. A village safari can also be
undertaken.
Day 05 Siyana - Bera
Drive
to Bera to stay at cottages (Leopard's Lair). Visit settlements of colourful
Rabari tribals in the vicinity. The farms here are mechanized.
Day 06 Bera - Mt. Abu / Udaipur
Proceed to Mount Abu, or Udaipur.
OPTION 2
Day 01
Jodhpur - Osiyan
Drive from Jodhpur to Osiyan to see 8th century
temples, then to Samaru village with its fort.
Day 02 Osiyan - Nagaur
Drive to Nagaur to see the fort, and
continue to Dugor village. The topography changes from heavy sand dune
country to flat, alluvial plains with deep-well irrigation farming.
Day 03 Nagaur - Pushkar
Drive to Pushkar, the pilgrimage center
with a temple, bathing ghats, and an air of tranquility.
Day 04 Pushkar - Pachewar
Drive to Pachewar, visiting Ajmer city en
route, and Tilonia with its crafts co-operative center. In Pachewar, there
is a blue pottery kiln and metal toy makers. The Fort Palace is 300 years
old and the village settlement also has a lake.
Day 05 Pachewar - Jaipur / Next Destination
Mornign drive to Jaipur
for Next Destination.
OPTION 3
Day 01
Jodhpur - Rohet
Drive from Jodhpur to Rohet to stay at its
fort-palace. The village is known for its handicrafts, and for its farming
Afternoon drive to villages of Bishnois and Rabaris, looking out for
blackbuck as they roam in herds in the countryside.
Day 02 Rohet - Dhamni Village
Drive further into the desert to
Dhamli village. The Garh has accommodation. Fields around the village, and
the making of mojris in the village are traditional practices.
Day 03 Dhamni Village - Devgarh
Drive from the flat fields of this
region to the hilly tracts of the Aravallis, to stay at the Mahal or Palace
at Devgarh. You can observe craftsmen at work on marble and stone.
Day 04 Devgarh - Roopangarh
Drive on to Chilli and cotton growing
region of Roopangarh to stay at its fort, the 16th Century residence of the
rulers of Kishangarh.
Day 05 Roopangarh - Jaipur
